Katelyn Hudson
Katelyn is an academic, artist, and designer. She is faculty member at Vermont State University (formerly Vermont Technical College), an architectural designer with the Cushman Design Group, and a MFA student at Vermont State University (formerly Northern Vermont University). She earned degrees from Vermont Technical College and The School of Architecture (Taliesin, formerly the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture) prior to earning her Doctor of Architecture at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) and PhD in Architecture at Bond University. As an architectural designer, she has worked on a variety of projects in New England (USA) ranging from sustainable/passive residential design, educational facilities, civic designs, and historic preservation.
Katelyn's research has tied into the human:nature connection. First, investigating practices of residential design to develop designs that are more attuned to clients wellbeing, and then taking a component of that initial research, biophilic design and using it as a frame work of analysis of habitation in Antarctica. Throughout all of her academic work, research and written word has been bolstered by graphic analysis, explanation, and awareness in an attempt to deeper her own understanding of the topics, but also to make the knowledge accessible to a broader audience.
The third branch of her life - enrolling in a MFA program - has built further upon her work thus far and allowing Katelyn to more fully, and playfully, explore the creative and artistic side of her explorations.
